Export Packing & Crating Engineer

Want to be part of one of the fastest growing privately-held logistics companies in the U.S. according to "Inc." magazine? We are looking for an Export Packing & Crating Engineer. The primary responsibilities of this position include:

•Serve as project manager in development of customer specific packaging & crating programs.
•Responsible for crate design to ensure integrity of product being shipped.
•Direct construction of new designs and address any issues related to tolerances, thresholds, etc. that impact quality.
•Establish workplace standards to ensure conformity in construction process.
•Maintain appropriate contact with all accounts and respond to requests when required.
•Troubleshoot and correct quality control issues.
•Participate in company marketing and sales efforts with respect to expanding service offerings.
Requirements:
•5 – 7 years of experience in export packing/crating operations
•BS in Engineering required.
•Experience with Breakbulk, over dimensional cargo handling.
•Ability to travel up to 50%
•ASTM or MilSpec experience preferred.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop structural designs for customer products using computer-aided design applications.  Perform design, testing and prepare cost projections.
2. Create designs for custom Wood, Foam, and corrugated packaging.
3. Liaison with sales department.  Accompany sales team to present new designs to customers and prospects.
4. Coordinate activities with Estimating, QC, and other departments to ensure quality standards are met and projects are completed on time.
5. Analyze changes in industry and research innovations in software and/or equipment.

Qualifications:

1. 5 - 7 years experience in protective packaging design
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Packaging Science preferred
3. Computer skills using AutoCAD, ArtiosCAD and/or Pro-E and also Adobe Illustrator for graphics design
4. Effective communication and organizational skills
5. Demonstrated presentation skills
