Has anyone heard of a spec: SPI F01-050-2290? I am not even sure who's spec it is. Military, ASTM, ETC.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Dave,
SPI is a Special Packaging Instruction. A SPI document must conform to a certain framework for consistency and portability. It will include all the packing and crating requirements for the related equipment.
I'm not sure but I think the issuing agency is responsible for providing the SPI. You may consider contacting the bid requester or the manufacturer of the equipment to be packaged.
Good luck and please post back here what you learn about where specifically to find them.

Is there a central SPI database? They all have different numbers so it seems like one government department must manage all of them.
HA! I've heard the term before and didn't really get it. I thought they were called a 'SPY' like it's a document that a spy would want to get ahold of.
I'm sure I'm not the only one (I hope!)

Hi, Drew Graham here. I checked the only SPI we have and could not find any correlation to your dilemma. The National Stock Numbers used to be issued from Tobyhanna, PA (the US Army installation there). I don't know from which organization they are issued now. All our NSN are listed as follows:5340-01-
422-7876 as an example and with a word description and HG part number.
Try a friend of mine, Bob Osif, CPP with SAIC in Camp Hill, PA, Tel.# 717-303-2813. He maybe able to tell you the issuing agency and their whereabouts.![]()
Jeff is correct. Go back to your contracting officer or buyer and get it from them. It will have all pertinent info.
