    Default Barrier Bagging

Hello -- We are getting into more international crating that requires barrier bagging. So far we have been using 6 mil poly and the clients are happy. My question is in regard to sealing the poly bag. We have the 6" hand sealer but this takes forever. Is there a better sealer ??? What is the best way to seal the bags ??? Is Mylar (expensive) easier to work with ??? Looking for good answers
    Thanks guys...

Check into foot pedal heat sealers. There are some that are up to about 2' long and floor standing with a foot pedal.

Thanks - I wish it was that simple. The microprocessor tools we bag are large; crates we are going to start building next week are 48"w x 96"l x 112"h and weight in at 3,300 lbs each... I'm still looking for suggestions and process.

First the barrier bag should be the foil type (not mylar). The tools should be protected from corrosion with ie: VCI Then you would use a rotary hand sealer which rolls along the edge and heat seals at the same time. At the end leave a small hole and insert a vacuum hose and when air is removed seal with the rotary sealer.
This is the most effective way to protect the product for international shipping.

One of the fastest growing user friendly vapor barriers is heat shrinking. Very similar to whats used on storing boats in the winter. Our company has been using this for over 10 years now with 100% success with the proper added desiccant. Much faster than using the old mylar methods.
