Thread: Best storage solution

    Default Best storage solution

We have several types of materials to send to India via sea freight. It would contain calcium silicate, galvanized metals, power tools, durasteel and some plates. we are estimating that it would be inside the crate for about a year. Considering weather conditions here in the north America, conditions at the sea during freight and the weather conditions in India. What would be the best way to package and store these items?

    Hello qgparedes

When crating for overseas there are a lot of things to consider. Like you state the weather is one of those considerations. There is a drastic difference between our weather and that of say India. There for anything that could be damaged by moisture by the seas or by condensation which forms from the contrast in weather. The most important of these would be to use Dessiccants and a Foil Barrier which is Vacuum Sealed after the product is put inside. Also using Anti Corrosion chemicals such as VCI Rust Inhibitors will definitely stop any moisture from damaging your products. Also you have to consider the type of Crate you would use for this shipment. There are certain Standards to follow depending on the size and weight of what is going in the Crate. Also extreme care must be take to block and brace what is put inside the crate as well as the crate in side of the sea container as no one knows what kind of weather the ship will encounter along the way. Crates in the container must be blocked and braced all ways Top to Bottom, Side to Side and End to End. Also the Wood used in Both the Crate and the Dunnage use to brace must all be ISPM# 15 certified wood and be free from Bark or Pests. You must use a registered company with ISPM # 15 certification to ship your products.
