Re: over size plywood
David,
This isn't enough information. What do you mean by "C.P. is not picking up that the plywood will have to be pieced together" ?
Perhaps you can print out your cut sheets, write on it the style you selected and definitely, the ID. Then please include what you believe is correct so I can understand what is is you're asking.

Thanks for learning the software so thoroughly.

Re: over size plywood
Thanks for the additional info.
Crate Pro 5 allows you to specify your splicing for the panel pieces. Note that on each panel screen there is the total panel size which is duplicated in the 'Piece One' field.
Depending on your companies policies for specifying your splices, for each panel, you're able to enter in the piece sizes you want to use. If you enter a piece size that doesn't add up to the total panel size required, you'll see a red dot on that panel tab. Click on the red dot for more information. A red dot does not mean a misconstruction exists since some companies will short cut panels for various reasons but if determine you did calculate wrong, you can see where you need to adjust it.
If your panel tab has a green dot then you have entered dims that equal the total panel size.
Why does Crate Pro 5 not specify your splices? Through surveys and beta testing of the software there wasn't a consensus on where splices should go. Some examples:- If you follow military specifications you wouldn't place a splice within 16" of an edge. Currently we hear of many companies who'll splice as close as 9" from an edge.
- Some companies are diligent on using scrap, thereby reducing their waste factor. Crate Pro 5 allows them to not only enter the dims of the scrap piece but enter a note for each piece (use the blue dot located next to each piece of material to add additional instruction to appear on cut sheets)
- Companies strictly following military specs will not rotate the wood grain for a piece on a panel. However, to get greater yield management we've found companies are rotating pieces on a panels.
There are more examples but this gives you an idea why the majority of crate manufacturers providing input into the original development of the program requested to be able to specify their own splicing. This gives you the greatest control on how you want to handle the splicing on your crate based on your companies policies.
Note: On the end and side panel screens the drop down for the splicing starts with the even numbers since you're entering information for two panels. If you're creating splices that are not the same for each of the two panels, scroll down below the even numbers and you'll locate the odd numbers. Having the even numbers appear first reduces the risk of not selecting enough material for both panels.
