Thread: Which Fasteners?

  1. #1

    Default Which Fasteners?

    I have a question:

I have to quote a job for a large run of small crates. The crates will be KD to be delivered to a client site then assembled with the clients product and transported out same day. We're going to be on an extremely tight time frame for assembly. I've got most of the logistics worked out but the question is, what is the suggested fastener for this situation?

    All opinions are appreciated!

    Hi - thanks for responding.

I'm currently at the investigation phase and am not ready to make it more formal. If you could give me more information in this forum I'll be able to share the forum information with other people that are going to be part of this decision.

    Dear New Crater,

The Scrail fastener might be just the thing for your application since time is of the essence. Scrail fasteners are a crossover between a screw and a nail, and can be used anywhere ordinary screws are used. They are driven with a pneumatic gun, giving them significant speed advantages - you'll be able to drive them in eight times faster than you can bulk screws, or two times faster than ordinary collated screws. That pares your time AND your labor costs significantly. They are also adjustable, so you can make any corrections needed when you assemble your KD'd crates, or even knock them down after the initial shipment for using again - another significant cost savings.

Does this help answer your question? If not, just let me know by reply if you need additional information. I can send you a sample if you would find it helpful, but you can see the details, specifications, and images by going to http://fascoamerica.com/scrail_home/home.php. You can also e-mail direct to sales@fascoamerica.com if you prefer.

Let me know how it goes!

Which Fasteners? If I knew more about the size, weight of contents, manner of assembly at the customers (nailing using nail guns, wire forms, special fasteners for ease of unloading) I could more easily suggest some alternative fasteners. As you have indicated you will build the container, ship it disassembled to your customer, who assembles it, fills it and reships the loaded container to their customer. There are several methods available. If you would fill out the application sheet available I will get right back to you with some suggestions. e-mail me at sales@hardy-builtfastener.com and I will e-mail the sheet to you. Thank you......
