I know its gaining ground in Europe. The EU proposed an anti-dumping tariff of up to (about) 45% on okome being used in building construction because it was being sold for as little as 1/2 the cost of local plywood.
It's also getting popular in the marine industry. I'm not sure in what way though. I don't know if it's practical for flooring in small boats. Larger ships would use little wood due to fire regulations. I would think that motor and sailing yachts would likely use something with a more established name.
It seems that panelboard is still too expensive for many underdeveloped countries but with its low cost, it may be filling the price gap.
You may want to check with the Icon Group to see if they have any reports that address it.
