The Packaging Science program at Virginia Tech is one of the most unique packaging program in the United States which focuses on complete packaging system design throughout the curriculum.

Hands-on and Real Life Experience

The program places a strong focus on hands on and real life experience. Laboratories are incorporated into most of our courses to provide hands on experience in numerous packaging disciplines. Internship are highly encouraged for all students.

Our unique packaging distribution center the Center of Unit Load Design provide unique opportunity for our student to learn about distribution packaging. In addition to distribution, there are numerous internships opportunities available at food packaging, corrugated packaging, packaging graphic, and various plastic packaging companies.

This allows students to develop their professional skills, expand their real world experience, and most importantly broadens their industry contacts. 

Small Class Sizes = Personal Connection

Our small class sizes provide a platform for more extensive interaction between he instructors and the students. Teamwork and collaborative team project are vital part of every course. Communication skills are essential in every industry, therefore, the packaging science program provides numerous opportunities for every student to advance skills in presentations and public speaking.

The faculty of the packaging program works closely with the industry to ensure that the curriculum contains the most current technological knowledge base. Graduates are rewarded with highly developed skills, extensive materials background and initiative knowledge of their application.
